Spring is Here!

I'm ready for some nice weather (still not getting it, but I'm ready!) Here's a few things I did to bring spring into the house.

I did decide to take down the burlap wreath for a while, and added a watering can.

I, once again repurposed my welcome sign.

Many of the things I have on display are things I made many years ago, such as these cloth eggs and this bunny, which used to go on a welcome sign.

Bunnies on the mantle were painted in the old days of "tole painting."

Another chalkboard embroidery pattern from Embroidery Library. I just love doing these!

More tole painting on these eggs. The cloth one is a Styrofoam egg that you use a sharp tool to punch in the edges of the pieces of fabric. I remember it being fun, but time-consuming. I'd love to make some more of these in brighter colors. This one was a kit. Anyone know of any patterns?

Bedroom Decor, Part 1

Gosh, I've been having trouble keeping up with the blog. I've been waiting to post my new bedroom decor until I'm finished, but it's taking longer than I want. So I'm giving you a teaser today. Slowly but surely, the walls are coming alive. Here's my previous bedroom post, with mostly bare walls. And here's some furniture I repurposed. And here's the rocking chair.

Now I'm working on the walls.

A painted sign again, but this time I added some string art. I went for the ombré effect. I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out.

And I made a bunch of pillows to add some color.

The afghan is one that I started to crochet many years ago and only finished two panels and part of the third. I had totally forgotten about it but found it in a bag when we moved. I stitched the two panels together, and it makes a nice throw. The partial panel was used to make the pillow!

I did get one other thing hung on the wall.

This is a cross stitch design that I did also many years ago. I think in 1988 (way before children.) It is a Norman Rockwell picture. It was kind of stained and rolled up in a box. I bought the frame, soaked it in Biz/Oxyclean/Dawn and it came out beautifully!

These are very tiny stitches! I can't believe I ever did this.

I still have plans for a few more bare walls and curtains to add, so there will be more Master Bedroom to come!

I don't have a lot of walls in my kitchen, so no place for art! But I did add this above the sink:

Valentine's Day Decorating

It's been a while since I've had time to post anything, but I did do a few things for Valentines day.

The sewing table drawer that I used for a Christmas decoration has been repurposed for Valentine's Day:

Some sparkly hearts and toile ribbon make a simple centerpiece for my table.

A few candles and vases I already had adorn the mantle. I did buy the tall vase with the heart at WalMart. The sign is an embroidery pattern from Embroidery Library.
